Welcome to Key Development Solutions and thank you for visiting.
I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with you about how I can help your company strengthen your relationships and grow new ones.
These are some recent articles that I wrote for the Builders Assoc of the Twin Cities. I hope that you enjoy them.
DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?
In light of the declining housing market, each of us needs to ask ourselves what are we going to do different? Although it seems like an easy question to answer, writing thank you’s & answering the phone faster is not enough anymore. It’s time to take the advise of our high school teachers & parents by starting to write it down on paper, put it in action & examine the plan through the year.
A business plan can mean so many different things, but in the most basic format, begin by looking at a few key things:
1. Look at what your company does well & how that can be showcased. Do you have a niche in the market? There are so many areas & segments of the market that can be showcased.
2. What are your sales goals & projections? Are they reviewed regularly? Even in this market, there are a great number of possibilities.
3. Who is in your sphere of influence & have you been networking with them? It is a common thought that it costs 9 times as much to get a new client as it does to stay in touch with current relationships. So do you have a database of your sphere of influence & past clients that is contacted on a regular basis? With competition up, if you aren’t contacting your clients, someone else is and would love to work with them next time.
4. Does your team have the same vision for the future? Are you tapping into their talents? Employees at all levels appreciate being included & can have valuable input. It is likely that there are talents and contacts that can be uncovered.
5. Ask for the business. Let your customers know that you want to work with them. Customer want to work with someone that appreciates their business.
For any business plan to work, it is important to commit to the plan & your vision. So, do you have a plan?

PICKING UP THE PIECES TO MAKE SOMETHING NEW
Recently, I heard about a story about a little boy that had worked for a week to create a master piece for his mother. When the little boy was bringing the creation to his mother he fell, breaking the special item into pieces. The mother helped the little boy pick-up the pieces, but rather than throw the pieces into the trash, they took it home to see what they could make of it together.
With the changes in Twin Cities housing market, it can feel as though things have fallen into pieces, but how are they going to be picked-up and what can we create going forward? Most of us will agree that we may never see the market increases of recent years, so what are we going to create?

Opportunity
Frequently, I talk with people about the opportunities that gravitate toward them. It is amazing to see what they can let flow from their hands to those of others that do see the possibilities that have been passed to them.
A few things to ask yourself:
1. Do my friends, family and sphere of influence know how I make a living?
2. Do I keep in touch with my database every 3 weeks with something of value?
3. Do I ask for business?
4. Do I see an opportunity to network when I pick-up the phone or step out the door?
5. Do my children know what I do?
6. Do I integrate what I love to do in life with my business?
7. Do I make work harder than it really needs to be by spinning my wheels and not using my valuable time to the best of my ability?
8. If I need help, do I ask for it?
Please don’t let the opportunity to help build your business pass to someone who is waiting to open the door, when opportunity is knocking.

Something of real value from an Anthony Robbins book:
1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
2. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
4. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.
5. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
6. Believe in love at first sight.
7. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
8. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely. 9. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
10.Don't judge people by their relatives.
11.Talk slowly but think quickly.
12.When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
13. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
14. Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.
15.When you lose, don't lose the lesson.Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
16. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
17. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
18. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
19. Spend some time alone.
20.When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
